Law Minister requests Hyderabad Chief Justice to establish separate High Courts
Lawyers pressing for seperate HCs called of their strike on Gowda's assurance
Hyderabad: Union law minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has requested the Chief Justice of the Hyderabad High Court to take steps to establish two separate High Courts for the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
In a letter addressed to Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta, the Union minister said that the entire lawyer community and the public representatives of Telangana have been continuously raising the demand for the constitution of a separate High Court for the state. The Telangana state Legislature had passed a unanimous resolution for establishment of separate High Court.
The minister brought to the notice of the Chief Justice that the Telangana government has identified and is willing to provide a separate independent multi- storied building with 4.90 lakh square feet area with all the infrastructural facilities in Gachibowli to establish a separate High Court.
The Union minister informed the Chief Justice that the lawyer community, which was abstaining from the courts to press for the demand for a separate High Court, has called off the strike on the assurance that the needful will be done at an early date.
The minister requested the Chief Justice saying that ,‘I shall be grateful if you could look into the matter so that the two High Courts for the two states are established at Hyderabad soon.’
