Social media apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, Hike, Gmail and Twitter seem to be strong competitors this year. Soon after the introduction of voice calling feature on Hike, WhatsApp rolled out the trial version of voice calls on selective numbers. The ‘send money’ feature via Facebook, Twitter or Gmail may soon grab eyeballs, as this is the only feature, which makes these platforms unique from WhatsApp.

Adding to this, Facebook is now working another user-friendly app, which is similar to the Truecaller app. A report by Android Police stated that Facebook is currently working on a new ‘Phone’ app.

The tech giant sent a handful of invites to Facebook users to try out the Phone App. If one observes the screenshot of the ‘Phone’ app, the description reads 'Phone is a new app that shows you info about who is calling and automatically blocks calls from commonly blocked numbers.’ It also includes the [FB-ONLY] tag.

Reports state that the [FB-ONLY] tag indicates that these invites were sent accidentally. Facebook users were asked to tap on install or update. On clicking the link, the result was ‘no page found’ which means the app is still under the development phase.

The upcoming ‘Phone’ app may allow Facebook users to get information about the name of the caller and the traced location of the number as well. It will also allow you to get rid of unwanted calls, as the automatic call blocking feature will also be added to the app as well.
