Hyderabad: Telangana home minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy’s bulletproof car developed a puncture at Hastinapuram forcing him to travel in a private vehicle on Monday afternoon. The minister was going for a hospital inauguration when the breakdown occurred.

Locals said the incident occurred at around 12 noon. A shopkeeper said the driver of the Fortuner controlled the vehicle well. He slowed down and stopped by the roadside avoiding an accident.

“The home minister was going to inaugurate a private hospital in the area. He had attended the MLC swearing-in ceremony and was going to Hastinapuram where the hospital is located. As the vehicle developed a puncture he got into Deputy CM Mohammed Ali’s car which was heading in the same direction,” said an official from the Home minister’s office.

The HM had to travel in a private vehicle from the hospital to the office of the prison DG at Chanchalguda as the Deputy CM left for another place.

The driver and a mechanic of the vehicle changed the tyre in half an hour, went to the prison DG’s office and picked up the home minister.
