New Delhi: Apprehending that the  construction of Pattiseema lift would mean putting the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project on the ‘cold storage’, YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the Polavaram project and allocate enough funds for its completion.

Mr Jagan asked the Prime Minister to ensure that promises made by his predecessor Dr Manmohan Singh like conferment of Special Category status on the residuary state are fulfilled at the earliest.

In a memorandum submitted to the PM, the YSRC President also opposed implementation of Shantakumar Committee Report, which will adversely affect farmers in the state.

‘We met the Prime Minister and reminded him about conferment of Special Category status to Andhra Pradesh, development of under development areas of the state and incentives for industries. Additionally, we also discussed with Prime Minister about the Polavaram project and other issues related to the state’, Mr Jagan told reporters outside 7, Race Course residence of the Prime Minister.
