West Bengal nun gangrape case: Four Bangladeshi nationals arrested in Ludhiana

Police said their respective roles in the incident is still being ascertained

Ludhiana: Punjab Police has confirmed the arrest of four Bangladeshi nationals in Ludhiana for their role in the gangrape of a nun in West Bengal's Nadia District last month.

They were arrested on Wednesday night, the police said, but added that their respective roles in the aforesaid incident is still being ascertained.

Last week, the CID had arrested one suspect from Mumbai in connection with the case.

Earlier last month, around a dozen suspected dacoits entered the Convent of Jesus and Mary and gang-raped the 72-year-old nun.

Eight people were detained in connection with the case after police officials released CCTV footage of the perpetrators.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation across the country, with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee assuring a thorough inquiry into the matter, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked for a report
