Party affairs: TRS insurance delayed
The delay is in uploading members’ insurance details online
Adilabad: The Rs 2 lakh insurance cover offered to new members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti proved to be costly for the party due to the delay in uploading the details of the beneficiaries online, which resulted in a delay in paying premiums on time to the insurance company.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, as president of the TRS, personally paid Rs16 lakh as the insurance amount to the families of eight recent TRS recruits from Ranga Reddy district that had died in various accidents, as their insurance premiums had not been paid due to the delay in uploading their details by the party.
The party was forced to pay the insurance amount as the family members of the deceased brought the receipts of party membership of the deceased members.
The TRS is now making serious efforts to pay the insurance premiums to the company without further delay.
Puranam Satish, TRS East district president, who was in-charge of the enrollment drive for Ranga Reddy district, told Deccan Chronicle that Rao has paid Rs 16 lakh to the family members of eight deceased members
Party sources said that Rao lauded the leaders of Adilabad —being from a backward district with hardly any Internet facilities — for uploading the details of the new members online.
Mr Rao also questioned senior party leaders of Ranga Reddy district for the delay in uploading the details of the new members in spite of the area being close to Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister has asked leaders of all districts to complete the process of uploading the data so that the party can pay the premiums to the insurance company and avoid a repeat of the Ranga Reddy episode.
