4 Indian-Americans among 40 top professionals in New York

The winners were chosen from more than 450 firms

New York: Four Indian-American entrepreneurs figure in a list of the 40 most talented and dynamic professionals under the age of 40 here in New York City. The four Indian-Americans in the Cairn's 2015 Class of "40 Under 40" list are Amy Jain, Aditya Julka, Reshma Saujani and Nina Tandon. Choosing from more than 450 firms, the business magazine's choices range from a gifted ballerina to a charismatic marketing guru.

"Our dynamic city attracts the best and the brightest, and this year's 40 Under 40 honorees represent all that you can achieve with determination, hard work and vision," Jill Kaplan, the vice president and publisher of Crain's New York Business, said in a statement.

Amy Jain, 32, jewelry designer launched Bauble Bar, the accessory answer to the fast-fashion movement that has taken over the retail industry.

"You need to prove a value proposition and that the brand is cool and fashionable-that's the biggest hurdle," Jain told Crain's.

Aditya Julka, 33, is the CEO and co-founder of Paddle8, an online auction house described as one of the fastest-rising stars in the art market.

"I take business problems and break them down into small experiments we can test," Julka said. "That's how we manage risk," he said.

Reshma Saujani, 39, is the founder of Girls Who Code, a three-year-old nonprofit that teaches computer skills to girls from low-income communities.

"This is more than just a program. It's a movement", Saujani said.

Nina Tandon, 35, Chief executive of EpiBone is a startup that has successfully grown face bones for pigs and aims to move to human trials in three years.

"Our product is a platform for your own cells to go in and repair your body," Tandon said.

Class of "40 Under 40" describes the most talented, driven and dynamic professionals under the age of 40 who are working in New York City today.
