Man tries to end life in front of commissioner’s office in Hyderabad
The man alleged that the ACP has demanded Rs 2 lakh from him over a land-related issue
Hyderabad: Mild tension prevailed at the Hyderabad police commissioner’s office in Basheerbagh on Wednesday afternoon when a man threatened to end his life. He alleged that assistant commissioner of police K. Ram Bhupal Rao had demanded money from him over a land-related issue and emptied a bottle of what claimed was kerosene on himself. Police and locals who came to his rescue found out that it was only water.
The man, Raj Kumar, a resident of Goshamahal, alleged that the ACP has demanded Rs 2 lakh from him over a land-related issue. The man said that when he refused to pay the amount, the ACP demolished his construction in Shahinayathgunj.
When contacted Mr Rao said the allegations were baseless. He said Raj Kumar had constructed an illegal shed on land adjacent to the Shahinayathgunj police station. He said that Raj Kumar demolished the shed and started the construction of pillars.
“Due to the construction of pillars, the compound wall adjacent to the police station was damaged. We had warned him earlier. Municipal authorities were alerted who demolished the pillars,” Mr Rao said.
