Towards a medical miracle? New HIV drug gives hope to patients
The drug is sourced from the human immunodeficiency virus itself
Hyderabad: In a first, a Mumbai-based doctor has developed a new medicine for AIDS patients, sourced from the human immunodeficiency virus itself.
There was an improvement in immunological parameters, an increase in weight, relief in symptoms, and an improvement in the health status of the HIV patients, as per the study published in Indian Journal of Research in Homeopathy.
Dr Rajesh Shah, a homoeopath and organising secretary of the World Homoeopathy Summit to be held in Mumbai on April 11, tested the drug on humans for safety and efficacy and found the results to be encouraging.
The study said that out of 27 participants, 7 (25.93 per cent) showed a sustained reduction in the viral load from 12 to 24 weeks. Significant weight gain was observed at week 12. Almost 63 per cent and 55 per cent showed an overall increase in either appetite or weight.
Another study by Hyderabad-based scientists said the snake venom could be used in treatment of AIDS, ebola and hepatitis. JSPS College head of department of practice of medicine, Dr Praveen Kumar, said, “The experiment shows that the homoeopathy drug has the capacity to act on HIV and other diseases.”
