Mail on iOS can be configured for iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, AOl and many more, as long as they have POP3 and IMAP servers. Google seems to be picking features from Apple where the Mail on iPhone and iPads can be configured as a single app for one-stop email accounts across many email services. Google’s new Gmail app for Android can now be configured for other non-Gmail email accounts too.

The new upgrade to the Gmail app for Android is out and the updates are available on the Play Store. Earlier, using the Gmail app, you can configure multiple email accounts but only restricted to Gmail accounts. The new app can now configure non-Gmail accounts, be it Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, or any other email accounts. The new move seems beneficial for most Android users as one needed to previously use a separate email app for configuring POP and IMAP accounts.

The new app now also allows you to see email conversations in threads, and you can view and reply to all emails from a single window itself. You no longer need to hop between account profiles to check mails or reply back.

The new Gmail app also features better search and smarter auto-complete to make finding what you need even faster and simpler.
