Arvind Singh was shot at point blank range, no arrests have been made so far
Lucknow: Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s relative Arvind Singh was shot dead at point blank range in Varanasi by three men.
According to reports, Arvind Singh who owns a petrol pump, was shot dead after he dropped his wife at the airport.
While returning he was stopped by three men on a motorcycle. The assailant had a brief conversation with Singh, following which he was shot at point blank range.
Singh was shot on his neck by his attackers.
A few women in a nearby field raised an alarm after the incident following which the assailants fled.
Superintendent of Police (rural) A.K. Pandey said that a .32 cartridge empty shell has been recovered from the crime scene but added that no arrests have been made so far.
BJP's Uttar Pradesh state unit spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak termed the killing as yet another example of lawlessness in the state.
"There is no policing in the state and every day scores of people are being killed in the state," he said.
