Watch: Ranbir Kapoor offers clues to an untold story in BV's first song ‘Fifi’
The song manages to pack a punch within the first few seconds
Mumbai: After months of all the hype and anticipation, the makers of 'Bombay Velvet' released the first song 'Fifi'. The film is set against the backdrop of ambition, love, sex, greed, and jazz. It is the story of one ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a ‘Big Shot’.
The song has Anushka lip-syncing to Geeta Dutt's iconic song Jaata Kahaan Hain Diwane from the Dev Anand starrer CID. The makers of the romantic-thriller Bombay Velvet have got the rights of the original song that was picturised on the legendary Waheeda Rehman. It has been re-versioned and has been picturised on Anushka Sharma who plays a 60s superstar singer named Rosie Noronha.
The song manages to 'pack a punch' within the first few seconds and establishes the relationship that Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma's characters share. Though the trailer had Karan Johar take away all the limelight, this song focuses on Ranbir and his adventures. The song has a neo-noir feel to it which takes mystery quotient a notch higher.
This film marks the director and producer, Karan Johar's first full fledged role as an actor in Bollywood. With all his 60s swag, Karan takes his place in front of the cameras armed with his gelled back hair.
