The benefits of marijuana are countless and as per this recent study weed may also be able to kill cancer cells. According to The Independent, the National Institute on Drug Abuse has issued a report that recognizes potential medical benefits of marijuana, something the US government has rejected in its classification of pot as a Schedule I drug – along with heroin, LSD and ecstasy.
Several US states have allowed the use of medicinal marijuana – and a few allow recreational use – but the federal government still bans marijuana use.
A report in the Daily Caller highlights that preclinical and clinical trials with marijuana and its extracts were used to treat numerous diseases and conditions, such as HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s disease, and inflammation. Reports also claim that a bill is being put together which would re-categorise cannabis to a new level that states it has some medicinal value.
