Andhra Pradesh fumbles on estimate of non-tax revenues this year
Andhra Pradesh will be depending on funds from the Central government and borrowings
Hyderabad: While the Telangana government is concentrating on improving its tax and non-tax revenue this financial year, the Andhra Pradesh government will be depending on funds from the Central government and borrowings.
Usually, state governments estimate more revenues from tax and non-tax heads but the AP government surprisingly has estimated less income from non-tax revenue this year than the previous year.
The Telangana government has estimated Rs 68,908 crore from tax and non-tax revenue in the present year, Rs 20,288 crore more than last year.
The AP government, meanwhile, has estimated Rs 49,764 crore from tax and non-tax revenue in the present financial year, only Rs 2,368 crore more than last year. The AP government, however, is expecting more funds from the Centre in addition to borrowings.
The Telangana government got Rs 35,378 crore as tax revenue last year while it has estimated Rs 46,495 crore for this year, Rs 11,117 crore more.
The AP government received Rs 38,475 crore as tax revenue last year and it has estimated Rs 44,423 crore in the present year, Rs 5,948 crore more than the previous year.
The Telangana government got Rs 13,242 crore in non-tax revenue last year and it is expecting Rs 22,413 crore this year. The AP government received Rs 8,921 crore last year and it is expecting Rs 5,341 crore this year.
The TS government had stated that it would sell land to raise revenue but later had decided against it. The question now is how will it raise Rs 22,413 crore from non-tax revenue in the present financial year.
From major revenue-earning departments like the Commercial Taxes department, the Telangana government is expecting Rs 8,520 crore more this year while the AP government is expecting Rs 4,091 crore more.
From the Excise department, Telangana is expecting Rs 1,093 crore and AP government is expecting Rs 450 crore more than the previous year.
From the Transport department, Telangana is expecting Rs 273 crore and AP government is expecting Rs 158 crore more than the previous year.
From the Stamps and Registrations department, the Telangana government is expecting Rs 1,116 crore and AP government Rs 900 crore more than last year.
Telangana is expecting more non-tax revenues from regularisation of buildings and the Andhra Pradesh government is expecting revenue from selling red sanders.
