Hyderabad: With 45 km of viaducts completed the Metro Rail is chugging along smoothly, said N.V.S. Reddy, the MD of Hyderabad Metro Rail. He was speaking at the Dr A. Ramakrishna Endowment Lecture here on Monday. The Metro Rail is 72 km long.

But the road so far has been uphill as acquiring properties and getting titles cleared have been a huge task and HMR had to wade through 200 court cases. Mr Reddy is confident that the completed Metro works have raised hopes among the people. He said, “There are still some sections who are creating trouble for the project. The Metro is going to make things easy for children, adults and the elderly.” The HMR is also working on last mile connectivity so that people can reach their destinations cheaply.
