The movie has been awarded with prestigious national awards
Mumbai: Fox Star Studios, Wunderbar films and Grass Root Films' Tamil venture Kaakka Muttai's (The Crow’s Egg) trailer is fianlly out. The movie which has won the hearts of audiences as well esteemed juries at various film festivals globally is all set to hit the theatres in India in May. 'Kakka Muttai' has earned global accolades and standing ovations across the World, from the prestigious Toronto Film Festival to the Dubai International Film Festival to recently held IFFLA. The movie was awarded with prestigious national awards, for the best children's film and for the best child actors, at the 62nd National Film Awards.
Dhanush said, ”Kaakka Muttai is one film which made me proud even before the release. It’s a winner of two national awards and got worldwide acclaim as well."
Added Dhanush said “When Vetrimaran sent me the script of the Kaakka Muttai, I just read ten pages and immediately accepted to do the film. The reason is that I could see myself and my brother Selvaraghavan as the two brothers in the film."
Vetri Maaran, who is the co-producer said “I liked director Manikandan’s short films and then asked him to send over a script for a feature venture. We always have a thought that festival films will not appeal to Indian audience but I wanted to break the myth by identifying and producing such scripts”.
Kakka Muttai’ is a quirky comedy and will hit the screens Worldwide in May. When a pizza parlor opens on their old playground, two carefree slum boys are consumed by the desire to taste this new-fangled dish called ‘pizza’. Realizing that one pizza costs more than their family’s monthly income, they begin to plan ways to earn more money – inadvertently setting in motion an adventure that will involve the entire city.
The film has been co-produced by superstar Dhanush and national-award winning director Vetrimaaran along with Fox Star Studios and has been directed by debutant Manikandan. A former wedding photographer, Manikandan is the writer, director and cameraman of the film. The music is given by GV Prakash.
