AP Encounter: Hyderabad High Court for fresh autopsy

HC granted the interim order while hearing a petition moved by Thanjiammal & 4 others

Hyderabad: A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday ordered fresh post-mortem of five woodcutters who were killed in the police encounter at Seshachalam near Tirupati.

The bench granted the interim order while hearing a petition moved by Thanjiammal and four others, relatives of the deceased Murugan, Murthy, Mahendran, Perumal and Munusamy, seeking fresh autopsies of the bodies which are preserved at the district headquarters hospital in Tiruvannamalai.

While impleading the relatives of the five deceased as parties to a PIL by Chilka Chandra Sekhar of the Civil Liberties Committee, seeking to register Section 302 IPC (murder) against the police personnel involved in the encounter, the bench directed the principal of the Osmania Medical College to constitute an expert medical team with not less than three doctors to conduct fresh post-mortem at Chennai.
