IPL 8: Mumbai Indians are on top

Mumbai: Mumbai Indians did a fine job of scoring 183 runs after Chennai Super Kings pushed them on the backfoot in the early stages of the game in Mumbai on Friday. Half-centuries from Pollard and Rohit Sharma left the hometeam in a solid position before McCullum and Smith tarnished the MI’s bowling attack to give Chennai Super Kings their third win in as many games.

MI are languishing at the bottom of the points table with four losses in as many games. Following a loss on Friday, the team is also getting criticised for failing to secure a win in the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League.

IPL 8: Points table

However, the Rohit Sharma-led unit is still topping the charts in two categories during the the ongoing IPL. Despite their four losses in as many games, Mumbai Indians have hit the maximum numbers of sixes in IPL 2015, beating all the other teams in the category. So far, Mumbai Indians have hit 32 sixes in four games; 8 more than the Chennai Super Kings side which has smashed 24.

Along with it, the Mukesh Ambani-owned side is the most trending team during IPL 8 on Twitter. As per the numbers on Saturday morning (April 18), #Mumbai Indians have been mentioned on Twitter for 225, 501 times.
