Make in India answer to WhatsApp, Skype
The new Indian app seems to unite the features of top chat applications
Reliance has tapped into the communication app with their first chat app on air. Jio Chat, the one-stop chat application for text, voice and video, has finally launched with Make in India as an initiative. The chat app runs on the lines of WhatsApp, Skype, Hike and WeChat with combined features of texting, chatting, voice chat and video calls.
The app works across all telecom operators and is free to download and use. The app supports stickers, drawings, pictures, photos, voice, video and video conferencing too.
The app will take advantage of Relaince Jio Infocomm’s (RJIL) 4G internet services to serve the best performance on voice and video communication.
Reliance Jio Chat was launched in India on April 11, 2015 and is presently available for Android and iOS platforms. The user interface of the Jio Chat closely resembles WhatsApp, which allows you to invite your friends to download and chat. The chat app also includes features borrowed from Skype (voice and video chats) and Hike (for hiding messages). Other features, such as emoticons, stickers, etc is also included. It looks like the best time for similar chat apps to borrow working and refreshing features from existing famous platforms. Additionally, users can also share their location and status while they are online – similar to what WhatsApp offers in the latest version.
Similar to Hike, Jio Chat also includes the feature to send your messages using standard SMS texts in case your friend is not on an internet connection, or if he/she does not have Jio Chat installed.
Will Jio Chat push the competition from the market? Will you install Jio Chat even though you have all your friends and family already running WhatsApp?
