The ‘Adah’ of Sharma
The actress is busy with films in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi
Adah Sharma is looking at a busy period ahead. While she is all set to debut in Tamil, she has also signed three films in Telugu. “I am happy to be busy with work,” she says.
“I am a Tamilian from Kerala and my mother tongue is Tamil. This year I will finally make a debut in Tamil,” Adah adds.
Of her three Tollywood films one is opposite Aadi, the second one is a special role in director Harish Shankar’s film Subramanyam for Sale and the third one is with PVP.
The actor says that she is happy with the response to her role in the recently released S/o Satyamurthy. “I said at the audio function of my debut film Heart Attack that I wanted to work with directors Trivikram Srinivas, Harish Shankar and Rajamouli. When Trivikram sir offered me this role I didn’t have any second thoughts and accepted immediately,” she says, as she awaits working with Harish Shankar.
When asked about her small role in Trivikram’s film, she says, “When I sign a film, I don’t have any insecurities or any negativity. I am always positive. If I like the director’s work I am willing to work with him irrespective of the role. I am confident that the directors will try to present me well,” she says. She also asserts, “I want to do different kinds of characters. If you look at all my films till now all the characters are different from each other.”
Adah is all praise for all her co-stars in S/o Satyamurthy. “Allu Arjun is an amazing dancer and it is fun to work with him. I learnt different dance forms, especially rhythm and expression, from him,” she says.
About Samantha and Nithya Menon, she says, “Both are my favourites. Both are beautiful and have made their mark here. I got to work with Samantha in this film but I don’t have scenes with Nithya,” she says.
Adah knew she wanted to work in films since her school days. “Most of my family members are professors and scientists. My mother did her M.Sc in Chemistry. I am the first person in my family to enter films,” she says.
Not many know that Adah is also a mimicry artiste. And all she did to begin honing her skills was watch films and imitate actors. “Anyone can do it if they concentrate on the character,” she says.
Interestingly, the release of the actor’s Kannada debut film clashed with the Telugu release. “I was very excited, couldn’t sleep the two days and travelled from Bengaluru to Hyderabad. Fortunately both films are doing well and I am getting a lot of offers in Kannada as well,” says the actress, who also has a Hindi film this year.
