8 tonnes of ‘A’ grade red sanders seized near Bhutan border, smuggler held

The red sanders were ready to be transported to China

Nellore: A team of special task force conducted cross-country raids in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu and seized 8 tonnes of ‘A’ grade red sanders.

The team also arrested a smuggler named Soundar Rajan and three others, who are residents of Tamil Nadu.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of the Police, JV Ramudu confirmed the development. Soundar Rajan and 3 others were arrested during a raid on a godown near Silguri, West Bengal close to Bhutan border. The ‘A’ grade red sanders were ready to be transported to China.

The teams are also conducting raids in Tamil Nadu but the details are yet to be released. “It is purely an operation by Chittoor district police and they have done an excellent work,” Inspector General of Police (Rayalaseema), V. Venugopala Krishna said adding that the operation is still on in the both the states.
