The vessel is follow-on of P15A-Kolkota class destroyers with enhanced features

VisakhapatnamThe first of the P15-B stealth destroyers will be launched at the Mazagaon Docks Limited in Mumbai on Monday. The ship is slated to be named Visakhapatnam on commissioning into the Indian Navy in 2018.
 
The 163-metre ship will be propelled by four gas turbines and is designed to achieve a speed of over 30 knots at a displacement of approximately 7,300 tonnes. The vessel is follow-on of P15A-Kolkota class destroyers with enhanced features.
 
The indigenously-designed stealth destroyer bristles with state-of-the-art weapons, including surface-to-surface missiles, sensors and an advance action information system.
