No glam roles for me: Sri Divya
Actress Sri Divya talks about the kind of roles she prefers
While non-Telugu actresses are ruling Tollywood, Telugu girl Sri Divya is doing very well in the Tamil industry.
“Though I have got offers in Telugu, I don’t want to do glamourous roles, so I haven’t accepted them,” she says.
The actress, who played a traditional role in her recently released Varadhi, adds, “I am happy about the film. I am not worried that I am not getting big projects here. Though the trend in Tollywood is to look glamorous, I am against it. I would like to make a mark on my own. If I like the subject, I will do it,” she says.
She adds that she is inspired by yesteryear actresses Revathi and Jayasudha. “They leave their mark on their films,” she says. The actress is currently doing Kerintha, produced by Dil Raju. “My role in the film is bubbly and I like it,” she says.
She is also doing the Tamil remake of the Malayalam film Bangalore Days. “Director Bhaskar promised me that he would change the character. He narrated the script with the changes and I agreed to act in it,” she adds.
Comparing the Telugu and Tamil film industries, she says, “In Tamil cinema, characters look real and natural. They give importance to female actresses and show them in a prominent way. But in Telugu, not many movies have real subjects.”
