Trida seeks support for light metro
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Pressure is mounting on the state government to execute the light metro project in the state capital with politicians irrespective of party affiliation coming forward to put pressure on the government so that it does not get delayed indefinitely.
Trivandrum Development Authority (Trida) has stepped into raise public and political support to ensure that the project does not get scrapped like the Monorail.
Trida Chairman P K Venugopal said that an all party delegation comprising local MLAs and MPs will meet the Chief Minister and urge the authorities to make this their priority project.
He said that a report on the workshop organised by Trida to mobilise public support will be submitted to the state government within a couple of days.
“We have decided to follow it up to avoid a delay. A mass rapid transit system is the need of the hour and all political parties are for it. There is a general feeling that the capital city is deprived of development and facing neglect,” said Mr Venugopal.
