Man cuts leg of cow that dirtied his house with dung

Cow was taken for treatment to the veterinary polyclinic in Saidapet before first-aid was provided

Chennai: The Guduvanchery police arrested a man on Tuesday for cutting the leg of a cow as ‘punishment’ for dirtying the entrance of his house with dung.“I came to know about the incident through SMS from one of the local residents and members of the Blue Cross of India immediately reached GST Road, Guduvanchery,” says Blue Cross general manager Dawn Williams. 
 
He added that the cow was taken for treatment to the veterinary polyclinic in Saidapet before first-aid was provided by the members on the spot.The members also filed a complaint against V. Balu, who had cut the cow’s leg, under section 429 IPC and section 11 (Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) PCA Act 1960.
 
Following the complaint, the police arrested him and remanded him in judicial custody.“The cow is admitted to Blue Cross of India shelter and hospitals. The cow will be taken to Madras veterinary college for an X-ray and, if required, metal plates will also be placed,” he adds.
