Rahul Gandhi to go on yatra in Telangana in May
Rahul has agreed to come and participate in programmes related to farmers in Telangana
Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders are gearing up to organise a Rahul Gandhi rytu sandesh yatra in Telangana districts in May.
Senior Congress MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday told the media here that the Congress vice-president had promised to visit Telangana for two reasons: Firstly, the TRS government’s open support to the Land Amendment Act introduced by the NDA and secondly that farmers are committing suicide on account of the state and Central governments’ failure to come to their aid.
"To make preparations for the yatra, I will tour Karimnagar and other districts along with PCC leaders," Mr Hanumantha Rao said.
TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Tuesday met Mr Gandhi in Delhi and discussed organisational matters apart from inviting him to a tour in Telangana.
"He has agreed to come and participate in programmes related to farmers in Telangana. Our leaders will soon meet to finalise his programme," Mr Vikramarka told this newspaper.
He added that he discussed with Mr Gandhi ways to strengthen the party from the grassroot level in Telangana.
