TD, YSRC gear up for civic body polls
YSRC eyes on Ongole municipal elections, constitutes 3-persons panel

Ongole: Telugu Desam and YSR Congress are gearing up for the ensuing Ongole Municipal Corporation elections for which the government will announce dates along with other municipal corporations’ elections.
With an eye on the poll, MLA Damacharla Janardhan has already started touring the city to know the problems of the people. He conducted a meeting of party activists’ and also held another review meeting with the municipal commissioner S. Venkata Krishna, instructing him to speed up development works in the city costing around Rs 20-crore.
He took the initiative to send a comprehensive drinking water project detailed report to the Central government, seeking Rs 394 crore financial assistance under JNNURM. He also resolved to solve the dumping yard and sanitation problem in the city, and also hasten road widening works.
Corporation election result would be the voters’ verdict on the year-long TD government’s rule, feel TD members. Meanwhile, YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is also eyeing the Ongole Municipal Corporation elections. He has appointed a three-person committee to prepare the party for municipal corporation elections.
Former minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy and MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and P. Anil Kumar have been appointed as members of the committee.He issued orders to this effect. They will take steps to strengthen the party and try for the success of party candidates in the polls.
Both parties have started groundwork for the municipal corporation elections. They are ready to start campaign as soon as government announces election to the OMC. PCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy and DCC president Mukku Ugranarasimha Reddy have taken steps to strengthen the party at the grassroots level in the district.
BJP’s presence is nominal in Ongole city.
