ZTE issues a legal notice against Huawei on camera patents
ZTE has ordered Huawei to stop manufacturing Huaweis P8 and X2
Huawei unveiled new flagship handsets – P8 and P8 max, with a high-resolution camera on April 15, 2015. However, this seems to backfire Huawei, as ZTE has accused Huawei for copying ZTE’s camera technology for P8 and X2 as well.

The letter has been published on social media platform – Weibo, where ZTE accuses Huawei stating, ‘Faced with a wide range of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. of plagiarism, we felt it was time to stand up and use the law to maintain order in the industry healthy competition.’

A report by GSMArena stated that Huawei has allegedly copied two camera patents of ZTE:
- Slow Shutter and Capture technology
- Imaging and Mobile terminal tech
Mobile World Live also further reported that Huawei claimed ‘Slow Shutter and Capture technology is a basic photographic technology generally known as ‘bulb’. Different manufacturers apply different technologies for taking photos in bulb mode.’
At present, ZTE has ordered Huawei to stop manufacturing Huawei’s P8 and X2 handsets.
