Visakhapatnam: Illicit affairs and suspecting fidelity of partners are the most common reasons of murders in Vizag and Vizianagaram region. The recent incidents in these regions have proved that murders due to illicit relationship, jealousy and fear of losing their love are on the rise and women are the victims in majority of the cases.
Police sources said the deteriorating relationship between husband and wife are giving rise to illicit affairs. Hence, to take revenge or to get rid of the spouse, one partner decides to eliminate the other. It may be recalled that a few days ago, a married woman K.V. Lakshmi and her paramour A.A. Naidu committed suicide by consuming poison at Kotavuratla area in Vizag after their relatives came to know about their affair.
Similarly, one A.C. Naidu and P. Devi were murdered over an illicit affair on the same day of the above mentioned incident in Vizag. In another such case, a man who suspected his wife’s fidelity, killed her in Vizianagaram recently and similarly two more women were murdered by their partners in Vizianagaram for similar reasons.
A senior police officer said that extra marital affairs remained one of the major reasons in at least 15 to 25 murders in a year in Vizag and Vizianagaram.
Similarly jealously and fear of losing their loved one remained another reason for murders. However, such murders were buried under various categories like family quarrels, personal enmity and love affairs.
DCP (Zone-I) C.M. Trivikram Varma said the murders due to affairs can be attributed to a sudden provocation. Counselling given to the partners by elders in the family or women's organisations can be seen as one of the solutions to prevent such crimes, Mr Varma added.
