Low-floor buses hit the road in Kozhikode
Urban welfare minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali flagged off the buses.
KOZHIKODE: The Kerala urban road transport corporation’s brand new low-floor buses, which were bought with Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission funds, were rolled out here on Friday.
The jam-packed first ride of the bus was well received by city dwellers. Several celeb-rities, politicians and common people joined the first ride that started from Muthalakulam.
While the news channel cameramen focused on the celebrities, common people reveled in taking selfies of their first ride on the AC bus. Seven AC buses and a non-AC buses reached Muthalakulam for the flag-off function.
Though it took a herculean task to turn the long buses through the small bend at Link Road to Oity Road, the rest of the bus ride was smooth.
Urban welfare minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali flagged off the buses. The buses have already started their services between Beypore, Elat-hur, Mukkam, Balus-sery, Tirur, Palakkad, and Vazhikadavu.
