Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police is developing live mapping of traffic movements, which will be available to commuters on the mobile and will make navigation though city roads easier.
The ‘Traffic Live’ application which shows live traffic movement across the entire city is made by juxtaposing live images on the Hyderabad city map by using live imagery from HTrims signals. The app has been developed and is currently being tested by the police. It will show congestion patterns on all routes in the city, showing heavy to no congestion by different colour patterns.
A commuter can open the map on his/her smartphone and see in real time whether he or she is approaching a heavy traffic zone as well as the congestion in connection routes and alternate routes.
With the ever increasing traffic woes in the city due to the ongoing metro works, the app can be a boon to commuters. It covers all junctions in the city as well as connecting roads.
In the map, green represents fast moving traffic, yellow shows medium, red shows slow movement while black shows congestion on the map, helping commuters plan a journey according to the degree of road congestion, said Additional CP (Traffic), Jitender.
