Belagavi to have the biggest national flag?
The flag that will measures 86x98 feet in size will be raised atop a 200-metre long pole
Belagavi: Preparations are being made in Belagavi to hoist the biggest national flag in the country. Belagavi MLA Feroz Sait has taken the initiative to get such a mammoth flag hoisted in the middle of Fort lake that is situated at the city's entrance. He says, he is in the process of getting such a flag done with the help of experts and soon it will be brought to Belagavi.
During the review of developmental works in the city on Monday, Mr Sait said, he wanted to see a massive flag like the one fluttering in Bengaluru to be raised in Belagavi too. The MLA is prepared to shell out money from his pocket besides getting some funds from the legislator's funds to get the big flag done and raised. “The objective behind such an initiative is to instil patriotism in the younger generation. It will send a message to the youth of Belagavi to be patriotic and help the nation develop,'' he said.

Once it is raised on the pole, it will be visible from a long distance before one enters the city on the national highway. According to the MLA, the flag will be operated through remote control and experts working on the concept will come up soon with the process to be adopted to fly it without much difficulty on all important occasions..
The MLA said he is not fully aware of the rules relating to flying such big national flag but will take note of all the necessary rules to ensure that the flag is raised in Belgaum at the earliest. The fort lake is a prime spot for entertainment for people of Belagavi which has been developed by the district administration.
