Davangere: Barber’s son gets 4 university gold medals
He was presented four gold medals, the highest in the varsity, for securing first rank in Master of Arts (MA) in economics
Davangere: Young Jayaprakash is a shining example of the fact that poverty cannot stop anyone from achieving success. Mr Jayaprakash, son of a salon owner, is the golden boy of Davangere University. He was presented four gold medals, the highest in the varsity, for securing first rank in Master of Arts (MA) in economics at the second convocation of Davangere university held at the university campus on Monday.
He achieved this feet by helping his father in the salon in Davangere city. Mr. Jayaprakash, known as JP among his friends, used to study for four to five hours a day. Sharing his happiness with media persons, a delighted Jayaprakash said “I expected a gold medal in my degree and BEd courses also but missed them. Considering failure as a stepping stone to success, I worked hard and that finally paid off with my securing the first rank in the post graduate exams”, Mr. Jayaprakash stated.
“I selected economics for my post graduation as this is the only subject which has scope in the arts stream. I am interested in Indian and micro economics,” he added. He dreams of becoming a lecturer and has written the Karnataka administrative service (KAS) preliminary examination held recently. Mr. Jayaprakash is preparing for K-SET and National Entrance Test (NET). He also dreams of enrolling for research but can’t take up it at present as the financial condition of his family is poor.
This apart, his younger brother, who is pursing M.Com is also as bright as his elder brother. He has secured 100 marks in corporate accounts. Mr. Jayaprakash is presently working as field investigator in National Sample Survey office in Hubballi. Before taking up this job, he has worked as guest faculty in various colleges. His parents Mr. K.B. Ramanna and Anasuyamma too are delighted with the achievement of their son. “We are ready to sweat it out to ensure them a good education”, he said.
