Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the Telangana state government and state Election Commission to complete the election process to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) by December 15, 2015.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyoti Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar, while granting the interim direction, asked the state government to complete the delimitation of divisions and reservation of divisions to SC, ST and BC by October 31.

It ordered the Election Commission to hold the elections within 45 days thereafter by issuing a notification and publishing the electoral rolls to the civic body.
The bench was dealing with a PIL by the Forum for Good Governance, represented by M. Padmanabha Reddy, challenging the action of the government in not holding elections to the GHMC even after expiry of the elected council.
