Xiaomi seems to be feeling a little heat, especially with rival smartphones getting better. Therefore, reports online have been winding the speculation that Xiaomi next flagship, the Mi 5, may sport a finger print scanner. Presently, Apple iPhone 5s, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, HTC One Max and One M9+, feature a fingerprint scanner. Feeling the hype, Indian smartphone makers, iberry and Xolo also launched smartphones with the fingerprint technology.

According to a Chinese website mydrivers, Xiaomi has filed a patent application with the State Intellectual Property Office in China. The patent applied deals with a method of integrating the fingerprint sensors onto a touch button.

Additionally, as we reported earlier, Xiaomi will launch the Mi 5 with the next version of MIUI, the V7. MIUI V7 will be based on Android 5.1 and is expected to combine all of the features available with Cyanogen, PA, Omni and AOKP. (For more details on the MIUI V7, click here)
