Mammootty wishes to buy India's first Maruti 800
The actor will send his representatives to Delhi to finalise the deal
Mumbai: Mollywood superstar Mammootty recently expressed his desire to purchase the first Maruti 800 made in India, according to a report in Hindustan Times. The keys of the iconic car were handed over to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on December 14, 1983 by its owner Harpal Singh in Delhi.
Mammootty is an ardent automobile enthusiast and owns a number of luxurious cars. Prasad Prabhakar, a friend of Mammootty, was quoted as saying, “After reading the reports about the car’s condition Mammootty told me that he was interested in buying the car. He was saddened to see that the car was rusting away and wanted to buy it from the family which went on to start a vehicle revolution for the common man in the country.”
Mammootty will send two of his representatives to Delhi to meet with the family of Harpal Singh and discuss the possibility of purchasing the vehicle.
