HMR demolishes SCR properties
204 more properties to be razed for pillar work

Hyderabad: Eight properties of the South Central Railway near the Secunderabad railway station and six properties at Yousufguda have been demolished by the Hyderabad Metro Rail and GHMC, along with two major properties at Jubliee Hills checkpost.
In a meeting with chief secretary Rajiv Sharma, HMR managing director N.V.S. Reddy and municipal commissioner Somesh Kumar said 39 properties had been dismantled. Another 204 properties — 157 private and 47 government-owned — which need to be demolished.
The demolitions will make space for pillar work for the Metro Rail. Mr Reddy said that acquisition of Nadini Café and Gowtham Reddy property at Jubliee checkpost had been held up for four years due to prolonged litigation. “These two properties have to be acquired as the Metro Rail takes a turn at the check post.” Property owners have been given their compensation; in places where there is litigation, the amount has been deposited in the court. The demolition of Jabbar Building, Chintawar Building and SBH building on Begumpet road were nearing completion, Mr Reddy said.
