KM Mani cautions Congress leaders on media debates

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance Minister K. M. Mani said on Tuesday that Congress leaders who participate in television debates and posting comments on social networking sites should refrain from making statements tarnishing the image of the government.

Addressing the wider UDF meeting at the KPCC office here, he said that Congress leaders making controversial comments against him should know that  the UDF government’s image was getting tainted. Though the meeting was  called to finalise the four regional marches of the UDF, Mr Mani’s statement came as a surprise to many.

Recently, Congress spokespersons Pandalam Sudhakaran and Ajay Tharayil had commented against Mr Mani in the bargate,  though Mr Pandalam  withdrew his comment from Facebook later. Th

Though the KPCC leadership had held a special session for the Congress spokespersons, the negative comments have continued unabated.

On Sunday, Mr Ajay Tharayil’s  Facebook post said that there was no need to protect the tainted ministers. It was stated at the meeting that JD (U) state president M. P. Veerendra Kumar would attend  the Kozhikode regional march.

Apart from Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, cabinet ministers, all the allies, DCC presidents, UDF district chairmen and conveners attended the meeting. KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran was not present due to ill-health.
