Kochi Metro to shine on aqua marine shade
Seats, hand grabs to have bright lime light green
KOCHI: The much-awaited Kochi Metro will have a beautiful aqua marine shade of blue for its exterior and general seats. The priority seats and overhead hand grabs will be painted with a bright lime light-green to complement the aqua blue.
The colour pattern and interior design of the Metro was finalised during a meeting between Kochi Metro Rail Limited and Tata Elxsi, the consultant of Metro rail for comfort features and branding of coaches, held here on Tuesday.
The walls and ceiling of coaches will have a light grey shade to balance the colour scheme and will have a textured grey along with a pattern of the main colors for the flooring.
The main colors were selected considering the city’s water bodies and the richness of green that the state represents.
Commenting on the selection of the colour pattern, KMRL managing director Elias George said, “Kochi is one of the most beautiful port cities in the world. We have kept this in mind when we decided the colour pattern for the metro.”
The colour aquamarine blue symbolizes calmness, sophistication and water. The colour also represents clarity of mind and it is considered as a friendly colour. According to KMRL officials, the colour pattern radiates peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow.
Selection of aqua blue for Metro assumes significance as the City Corporation has already announced blue as the official colour of Kochi.
The civic body has announced the scheme ‘One Kochi – One Colour’ as part of which government offices and other public spaces are being painted with aqua blue. There are plans to make the city buses blue in colour too.
