Sitaram Yechury 'red flags' Land Acquisition Bill in Bengaluru
Yechury stated that opposition parties will not allow the government to pass the controversial Land Acquisition Bill
Bengaluru: The CPI(M)’s new General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, social activist Medha Patkar and former Aam Aadmi Party conscience-keeper Yogendra Yadav brought together social activists, farmers, Dalit associations as well as Left party leaders at a massive protest rally in the city on Tuesday, where they slammed both the Central and state governments for ignoring the interests of the farmers.
Significantly, CPI(M)’s Mr. Yechury drew a line in the sand when he stated that opposition parties will not allow the government to pass the controversial Land Acquisition Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
Mr. Yechury said: “we have already told Centre that the party will not allow the land acquisition bill to be passed. The government can get approval for the bill in the Lok Sabha, but we will not allow the bill to be passed in the Rajya Sabha.”
