AP government to spend Rs 1500 crore for Godavari Pushakaram

We are expecting 3.5 crore pilgrims during the 12-day Pushakaram, says govt

Rajahmundry: Andhra Pradesh Advisor (Communications) Parakala Prabhaka said the state government will spend Rs 1,500 crore for the upcoming Godavari Pushakaram festival in July.

AP government is spending Rs 1,500 crore for Godavari Pushkaram and 85 per cent of the works is completed while the remaining would be completed before the festival commences on July 14, Prabhaka told reporters here yesterday.

"We are expecting 3.5 crore pilgrims from all across the country who will take holy bath and perform rituals during the 12-day Pushakaram. High standard is being maintained in all developmental works and are being done in a transparent manner," he said.

Construction of 241 ghats out of the 264 proposed has been completed while building roads, power supply works and other preparations are underway and will be completed on time, the senior official added.

The pushkarams will be simultaneously organised in Rajahmundry, Kovvur and Narasapuram districts.
