Training tirelessly for civil service at the grassroots
Rather than teaching with a syllabus, guidance to be given on how to acquire practical knowledge
Kozhikode: The Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) Welfare and Charitable Foundation has commenced the third batch of Civil Service foundation and orientation programme on Wednesday.
Students from Class 8 to 12 are trained under the programme aimed at promoting Civil Service aspirants in the district at the grassroots level.
Batch-wise training is given for each class at both high school and higher secondary levels. Each batch consists of 150 students.
A total of 19 classes by civil servants, including three interactive sessions by IAS officials, are part of it, helping students to gain skills to get through various competitive exams and personality tests.
Special training is provided for various other Union Public Service Commission exams for Civil Services, Staff Selection Commission and Reserve Bank Of India.
“Rather than teaching with a syllabus we give them guidance on how to deal with the syllabus and how to acquire practical knowledge with supplementary reading,” programme coordinator Mohammed Ismail said.
“Apart from classroom sessions, we have planned camps and team visits as well. Students will be divided into teams of five and taken for visits to Indian Space Research Organization, Ezhimala Naval Academy and various other places. There will also be forest camps and rain camps for the students”.
District collector N. Prasanth said the civil service or any competitive exam can be cleared with good spirit and perseverance.
“Discussions should be held among the students themselves and for this proper grounding has to be made. Initiatives like this are helpful and should be utilised properly,” he told a gathering.
