Two get life for raping minor

Total of 23 witnesses, 28 documents examined in case

KANNUR: The district sessions court judge V. Shirsy on Wednesday  awarded life imprisonment to the first two accused in the gang rape of a 15-year- old girl at Chirakkara in Thalassery in 2010.

The accused 3, 4  and 5 were sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and  a fine of Rs 1  lakh each.  The first and second accused were sentenced to five years’ rigorous imprisonment on  the charge of abduction and were slapped with a fine of Rs 50,000 each. 

The first two accused have  to pay Rs 2 lakh each separately under the gang rape section.  Out of the fine, Rs 8 lakh should be given to the girl.

The case is that the Plus-One student was gang raped after she was abducted in a car and given  drug-laced drink. Later,  a series of rapes were committed from   December 2010 to December 2012.

The complaint was filed by the girl, who reached the Thalassery SHO  with her parents. A total of 23 witnesses and  28 documents were examined.  The girl herself had deposed before the magistrate in the case.
