Mumbai: Taking forward the alleged sale of medicines on online portal Snapdeal, the Maharashtra FDA filed an FIR at Panvel police station on Friday. The FIR has been filed against Snapdeal founder CEO Kunal Bahl and other directors.
The FDA raided Snapdeal’s office at Goregaon last month, soon after getting information regarding the sale of medicines, which are to be sold on prescription only. “We have registered a case under sections 19, 40, 28, 27-D and 22-3 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and section 7 of the Drug and Magic Remedies Act.
Since the complaint has been filed by an FDA inspector, we would first ask for a report from them to understand the issue and the alleged role of the accused and then start calling them for questioning,” said senior PI Bajirao Bhosale of the Panvel police station. As per the regulations, only registered practitioners and chemists are allowed to sell or exchange the medicines that too only on prescription.
