Hyderabad High Court stays appointments of Telangana State Parliamentary Secretaries
This is a major setback for the Telangana state government
HYDERABAD: In a major setback to the Telangana state government, the Hyderabad High Court on Friday stayed the appointments of Parliamentary Secretaries and made it clear that any further proceedings with regard to the appointments would only be with the court’s permission.
The state government had appointed MLAs D. Vinay Bhaskar, Jalagam Venkat Rao, V. Srinivas Goud, G. Kishore Kumar, V. Satish Kumar and Kova Laxmi as Parliamentary Secretaries through a Government Order on December 29, 2014.
Subsequently, the government brought out the Telangana Parliamentary Secretaries (appointment, salaries, allowances and miscellaneous provisions) Act, 2015, adding legal sanctity to the appointments. The Act was then challenged before the court.
