Sonia Gandhi to host dinner for Congress MPs
The dinner meeting will present an opportunity to fine-tune the party’s strategy on various legislative Bills
New Delhi: With an “assertive” Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi back in the thick of action, party president Sonia Gandhi will host party MPs for dinner on May 6.
The dinner meeting will take place at a time when the government is seeking to push its legislative agenda in the remaining Budget Session of Parliament.
With the Congress not having held a parliamentary meeting for quite some time, sources said that the dinner meeting will present an opportunity to fine-tune the party’s strategy on various legislative Bills.
Mr Gandhi, after coming back from his nearly-two-month-long sabbatical, has been vocal on the issues of farmers’ distress on account of unseasonal rains and hailstorms.
The dinner is being looked at by the party MPs as an opportunity to interact with Mr Gandhi. Mrs Gandhi usually hosts a dinner for MPs twice, during the Budget Session and Winter Session.
