Hyderabad: The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) has come to Hyderabad searching for kids who went missing from the state. The CID officials approached their counterparts in Telangana and have started a search at various places in the city. The CID officials suspect that many kidnapped kids are trapped in the city as labourers.
The labour department and child welfare officials had earlier found that a New Delhi-based agency had been recruiting kids from Jharkhand and sending them to South Indian cities, especially Hyderabad. Most of these kids had gone missing from Jharkhand. The CID sleuths collected intelligence about the missing kids and decided to focus on Hyderabad in their first rescue mission.
During the search jointly conducted by CID officials of both Jharkhand and TS, around 21 child labourers were rescued from the Bahadurpura area. However, officials found that the 19 boys and two girls rescued were not from Jharkhand. “Those kids are from Telangana, AP, UP and Bihar,” said a CID official.
The sleuths raided steel manufacturing units, bakeries, petrol pumps and other shops in Bahadurpura. All the kids were sent to the rescue home for rehabilitation. The south zone police had rescued several kids from Jharkhand from small factories in the old city a few months ago. “There are more kids trapped in the city as labourers and we will be here for another week to rescue them,” a Jharkhand CID official said.
