Hyderabad: The Telugu Desam on Saturday finalised its decision to hold the three-day biennial mega Mahanadu in the city from May 27. The intention is to focus on the activities of the Telangana unit of the party with a view to improving its prosp-ects in the ensuing GHMC polls.
A committee has been constituted to prepare the agenda for the event that will be held from May 27 to 29 at the party office at Gandipet. The Mahanadu will pass several resolutions, including one on the functioning of the year-old TRS government headed by Chief Minister K. Chandras-ekhar Rao. The party will also pass a resolution on the peculiar problems that the AP government faced during the past year, particularly the injustices meted out to the state on account of bifurcation.
These decisions were taken at the politburo meeting that was chaired party president and AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. It was attended by about 20 members including Union minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju.
It was felt that subsequent Mahanadus could be held in AP, where party is in power, but it has to be held in Hyderabad this year to boost the image of the party in Telangana in view of the recent political shows by the TRS.
Mr Naidu also constituted a committee with senior party leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy and Payyavula Kesav to go address the issues related to making TD a national party.
