Mumbai: Anurag Kashyap’s 2015 blockbuster starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar may be titled ‘Bombay Velvet’, but that hasn’t stopped the cast from exploring other states. The team along with its star cast and director are headed to Goa for a special ‘invite only’ promotional event for the movie.
The stage has been set with larger than life posters being put up around the venue to welcome the stars. The team is expected to sit down for one-on-one chats with the media and will reportedly even host a special screening for the handpicked invitees.
The leading pair Ranbir and Anushka have been neck deep in promotional activities for the 100 crore film. This one-of-a-kind promotional event is expected to go on for three days, starting Monday afternoon. The film has been creating quite a buzz on several social networking sites. If your newsfeed has a #Bombay in it, you can be sure that it has something to do with the film.
'Bombay Velvet', based on historian Gyan Prakash's book 'Mumbai Fables', narrates the story of how the city in 60s became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. Ranbir Kapoor has been basking in the spotlight for his ‘incredible’ performance as Johnny Balraj, an ordinary man who goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a 'Big Shot' in Bombay city.
Just a week before its big nationwide release on 15th May 2015, the film has run into some legal trouble. Much to the director's disappointment, the film has been given an 'A' certification for its violent scenes and language. If the CB has its way, a lot of young Ranbir-Anushka fans below the age of 18 might not be allowed to watch their favourite stars in action on the big screen.
