Priest hangs himself in temple premises

Thoothukudi: A temple priest hanged himself inside the temple here on Sunday morning. Ganesan (65) of the Housing Board colony on Ettaiahpuram road, Thoothukudi, was found hanging dead inside the Esakkiyamman temple where he is the chief priest. On information from devotees, the Thoothukudi Sipcot police rushed to the spot and held enquiries.
 
According to the police, Ganesan took the extreme step due to a family dispute. He is said to have opened the temple around 6 am, and used the saree tied to the idol of the goddess to hang himself.
